The 'Fantasy' singer said she felt out of place as a mixed-race child and was unsure how to care for her hair, something she knows better today.
"I grew up thinking hair should look a specific way," she said.
As a mixed-race individual with a black father, it was hard.
"Black friends could do different hair treatments than mixed pals.
"My white pals woke up with great hair.
"My mother didn't buy conditioner since 'it looked nice' "Never without conditioner. "I carry one."
